1. Who is Amro Khalid? A passionate goalkeeping coach.
My name is Amro Khalid, a professional goalkeeping coach with over fifteen years of experience at various levels of football in the United Kingdom. I've been fortunate enough to work throughout the academy system of a Category 1 club – from grassroots development through youth and professional development. I started playing goalkeeping at a young age, progressing through the junior and amateur levels. Along the way, I've met many people with extensive football and goalkeeping knowledge who have significantly shaped my learning and development.
2. Career path: From coaching fever to professional employment
During my studies in sports coaching (HND), I had the opportunity to gain initial coaching experience – and I immediately caught the coaching bug. Shortly afterwards, I met goalkeeping coach Justin Bowley, who also works at Leicester City. He allowed me to shadow him and gain practical experience through his network. This led to my first position at a professional club, as well as working in the amateur sector simultaneously (Step 3).
3. Stages: From Leicester City to his own goalkeeping academy
I have worked in various roles at Leicester City for over ten years, working with goalkeepers of all ages and development levels. This included assisting Mike Stowell with his first-team training sessions and working with top international goalkeepers. I also worked in non-league football with Nuneaton Borough and Barwell FC, while simultaneously building my own goalkeeping academy, "A-Class Goalkeeper Coaching."
4. Further training: UEFA A license for goalkeeping coaches
I am currently completing the UEFA A License for goalkeeping coaches – a demanding but very enriching experience. Professional development is extremely important to me: it offers the opportunity to exchange knowledge, gain new perspectives, and continuously improve my own skills. This is crucial to meeting the ever-evolving demands of modern goalkeeping.
5. Training philosophy: Individual development and mental strength
My training philosophy is based on the individual development of each goalkeeper. I place great emphasis on fostering strengths and working on weaknesses, always taking personal needs into account. Besides technique, tactical understanding, mental strength, and game intelligence are crucial for me. My goal is to develop goalkeepers not only athletically but also personally.
6. What can participants expect from the camp?
Participants can look forward to intensive and varied training sessions covering both technical and tactical aspects of goalkeeping. We will refine fundamental techniques and simulate complex game situations. Furthermore, there will be ample opportunity for individual feedback and discussion. I am excited to share my knowledge and experience and support these young goalkeepers on their journey.
7. Goals for the Goalkeeping.com Academy
My goal is to establish the Goalkeeping.com Academy as the leading address for goalkeeper training. I want to contribute to creating an environment where young talents can reach their full potential. Through innovative training methods, individual support, and a passion for goalkeeping, I want to inspire participants and equip them with the tools to achieve their goals.
